Man who sold his SUV - bigger than monk who sold his Ferrari

Today when lakhs of people are fighting covid, all the people in government, whether it is state or central government, hospitals are trying their best to provide people basic necessity of medicine, oxygen etc. In such hard days there are few people who are working day and night to give their support for the general people. One such person is Shahnawaz Sheikh living in Malad, Mumbai, who after learning that the patients are continuously dying due to lack of oxygen in Maharashtra become a messiah for the people. Shahnawaz sold his Rs 22 lakh SUV a few days ago to help people get oxygen cylinder. Famous as 'Oxygen Man', Sheikh is delivering oxygen to patients on a phone call. Along with this he with his friends have also prepared a 'war room' so that people do not have problems.

With the money received after the sale of his Ford Endeavor, Shahnawaz bought 160 oxygen cylinders and send them to people who needed it. Shahnawaz said that from the first wave of corona we are helping people, but now we are out of money, so I decided to sell my car to fulfil my dream to help others in need.

When asked how he got inspired to help people in a pandemic time, when all are thinking of saving their own lives, Shahnawaz told that when his friend’s wife died in an auto rickshaw due to lack of oxygen, he decided to help people get oxygen cylinder in time so that nobody faces such crisis in their lives. This is how we started supplying oxygen for patients in Mumbai. To provide timely help to the people, Shahnawaz issued a helpline number and established a war form. According to him they daily receive 500 to 600 calls for help.

Shahnawaz explained that before January, there were 50 calls for oxygen, but today 500 to 600 calls are coming every day. We can only help 10 to 20 percent of the people, but want others to help us expand our work, so that we can help as many people as we can.

Shahnawaz also shared that currently he has 200 oxygen cylinders, out of which 40 are on rent. First, we ask people to come and take cylinder, but those who are not able to come, we provide them cylinder at their home. He is happy that he has helped more than 4000 people till now and this number is increasing day by day. They explain how to use these cylinders and ask people to bring back empty cylinders to their war rooms.
